AC/DC‘s official music video for the songĀ “Witch’s Spell”Ā will make its online debut on Wednesday, June 9 at 10:00 a.m. ESDT / 7:00 a.m. PDT. A teaser for the clip, which was directed, edited and animated byĀ Wolf & Crow, with live action band footage production byĀ Collider, is available below.
“Witch’s Spell”Ā is taken fromĀ AC/DC‘s latest albumĀ “Power Up”, which was released in November. The LP featuresĀ AC/DC‘s current lineup ofĀ Brian JohnsonĀ (vocals),Ā Phil RuddĀ (drums),Ā Cliff WilliamsĀ (bass),Ā Angus YoungĀ (guitar) andĀ Stevie YoungĀ (guitar). It was recorded over a six-week period in August and September 2018 atĀ Warehouse StudiosĀ in Vancouver with producerĀ Brendan O’Brien, who also worked 2008’sĀ “Black Ice”Ā and 2014’sĀ “Rock Or Bust”.
“What I like aboutĀ BrendanĀ is that he keeps you working when you’re doing a project with him,”Ā AngusĀ toldĀ Rolling Stone. “He’s talented himself. He knows his bass and his guitar and a bit of drums. And piano. He covers the spectrum for what we can do musically. It’s very good because youāre working with a musician, since he can apply that musical knowledge.”
AlthoughĀ AC/DCĀ originally planned on releasingĀ “Power Up” in early 2020, the pandemic forced the band to reconsider.
“We were hoping to get the album out before all this happened,”Ā AngusĀ said. “They were getting ideas together for packaging and video promo things. And then that virus thing came along. It kind of put everyone on hold.”
“Power Up”Ā landed at the No. 1 spot in 18 countries, including in the U.S., where it sold over 117,000 copies in the first week.Ā “Power Up”Ā markedĀ AC/DC‘s sixth No. 1 album in Australia where the band is the only Australian group in history to have had a No. 1 album across five decades:Ā “Back In Black”Ā (1980s),Ā “Ballbreaker Live”Ā (1990s),Ā “Black Ice”Ā (2000s),Ā “Rock Or Bust”Ā (2010s) andĀ “Power Up”Ā (2020s).
“Power Up”Ā was the fastest-selling album of 2020 in at least three of its biggest markets ā U.S., Australia and the U.K. ā where it debuted at No. 1.
