Jimmy Page says that he is working on “multiple” projects.

Although the LED ZEPPELIN guitarist reportedly turned down an offer to contribute a guest solo to Ozzy Osbourne‘s new album, he has since revealed that he hasn’t been sitting idle.

“There’s various things I’m working towards,” Page told Classic Rock magazine in a new interview. “It’s not just one thing, it’s multiple things, and I don’t want to even give a hint, because if you do … you give a one-sentence sound bite, and then if it doesn’t materialize, it’s like: ‘Why didn’t you do a solo album?’ So I don’t want to say what it is that I’ve got planned, because I don’t want to give people the chance to misinterpret it.”

He later added cryptically: “I really can’t put on record what the new record is. I’ll leave it to your imagination. The thing is there are so many ways I could present myself right now. Actually, not right now. I’ll rephrase that: within a space of time.”

Page also suggested that pandemic-related restrictions played a part in his decision to opt out of collaborating with Osbourne.

“I will never be one of those people who’ll record alone and send someone a file,” Page said. “I never went into music in the first place to do that — it was for playing together.”

The full interview with Page is available to read in the 300th issue of Classic Rock magazine.

Page previously made similar comments about his future plans in a recent interview with Uncut magazine.

“I have got ideas and projects in mind — several possible things I could do — but I won’t discuss them, because if you give one sentence of something that might turn into a lengthy project then people start asking when it’s coming out,” he said. “I keep my cards close to my chest with what I am doing, because I don’t want to let the fans down.”

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, who played on Osbourne‘s upcoming album, recently said the LP was initially supposed to feature “the holy trinity” of guitarists, but that Page decided against taking part in the project because he doesn’t “play too much anymore,” according to Smith.

In 2020, Page said he “reconnected with guitar” and he confirmed that he was staying busy during the pandemic, saying: “I’m never not doing something, and I’m never not doing something that’s going to surprise people. But I’ve always got ideas, and the day that I wake up and haven’t got any ideas of what to do and how to do it, that for me will be a very sad day. And that day looks like it’s some way off yet.”

In October 2018, LED ZEPPELIN released its first and only official illustrated book, “Led Zeppelin By Led Zeppelin”. It was a unique collaboration between Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist John Paul Jones, who gave Reel Art Press unrestricted access to the LED ZEPPELIN archive.

ZEPPELIN last performed in December 2007 in London, with drummer Jason Bonham filling in for his late father John Bonham.
